Our principle: AI supports judgement, it never replaces it
Every AI output in MediFlow AI is a draft or a suggestion for a qualified person to review. The platform is built so that no AI result reaches a patient without a clinician's decision in between. This follows the World Health Organization's guidance that humans should remain in control of health-care decisions made with AI [1].
Where AI appears in the workflow
- Clinical assessment — the AI reads the recorded vitals, symptoms, and history and suggests possible diagnoses, an urgency level, red flags, and tests. The doctor reviews and decides.
- Prescription drafting — the AI can draft a prescription from the assessment. The doctor edits and approves it, and an interaction and allergy check runs before approval.
- Pharmacist validation — a pharmacist independently checks the approved prescription before it is dispensed.
- Patient counselling — the AI drafts plain-language medication instructions, which the care team can review before sharing.
Why the review step matters
AI models can be wrong, can miss context that a clinician sees in the room, and can sound confident when they shouldn't. A human review step catches these errors and keeps accountability with the professional responsible for the patient [1].
That is also why every AI result in MediFlow AI is labelled as AI-generated, and why actions are recorded in an audit log.
